Abstract Photography

Feb 20, 2014 by

This was a project in Bannack where we took Macro shots or shots with a lot of Blokeh (blurred background) and combined them with a texture we took in Bannack.   All Your Notions on the Table: This was the finished piece, the texture provided a even more rustic look to the table and added interest to the thread. I used a Hard light overlay to blend the wallpaper into the sewing machine image. I masked out a lot of the background so it didn’t have an overwhelming look. I think this one turned out really nice.   Texture: Friday February 14th 2014, 1:42pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.0, Shutter Speed: 1/60sec Original Table: Friday February 14th 2014, 11:37am, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.0, Shutter Speed...

Thread and Machine- Reverse Shallow Depth...

Feb 20, 2014 by

These two images are essentially the same picture with the subject reversed. This was taken in an old Doctors house in Bannack Montana. I thought the sewing machine looked pretty cool. Sewing Machine:   Friday February 14th 2014, 11:39pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/5.6, Shutter Speed 1/60sec In this image the sewing machine is in focus and the closer you get to the front of the image is less in focus. You can see the details of the sewing machine really clearly here. Thread:    Friday February 14th 2014, 11:39pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/5.6, Shutter Speed 1/60sec In this image instead of the sewing machine being in focus, only the thread is in focus. Everything that was in focus in the previous picture became out of focus for this...

Girls and Ghosts- Frozen/blurred action...

Feb 20, 2014 by

Here are some more from Bannack Ghost Town, empathizes on the “Ghost” Here are two shots a blurred action (a ghost picture) and a Frozen Action picture. Ghost Girls:   Friday February 14th 2014, Bannack Montana, 10:59am, Nikon D3100, f/22, Shutter Speed: 10.0sec Admittedly this is not the best picture, I only got a few ghost pictures, I was having too much fun being a model myself. The illusion of “ghosts” were created with a slow shutter speed and a high aperture. The models stood in the frame and bolted out during the middle of the frame. Fun in the Snow:   Friday February 14th 2014, Bannack Montana, 11:10am, Nikon D3100, f/9, 1/400sec This is just a fun picture, you can see the excitement on the two girls faces. The snow was thrown up...

Cowboy and Indian Portraits

Feb 20, 2014 by

For my Digital Imaging class, on Valentines day we took of field trip. These are some portraits I took during the trip to Bannack Ghost town in Montana. Katie The Indian Princess:   Friday February 14th 2014, 2:27pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.8, Shutter Speed: 1/500sec This was probably my absolute favorite picture, the colors came out really nicely, Katie did a really good job modeling. The blurred snow adds an authentic feel to the image, I really like the way she is positioned with the bone over her shoulder and everything. Her eyes are really striking, the reds and blues seem to really come out in this image and I really like it. Cowboy: Friday February 14th 2014, 2:48pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/5.6, Shutter Speed: 1/200sec I really like the way he is...

Portrait Enhancements

Feb 12, 2014 by

This week we were assigned to take portraits, for a section of the assignment we were to perform photo enhancements, Since I chose to photograph my sisters the enhancements weren’t hard since children don’t have much blemish to their face and also they didn’t seem to show their teeth a lot. My sisters do carry dark circles under their eyes though when they are tired so that’s always something I have to work around with them when we take pictures. Cocoa Child: I really my sister Eden’s eyes in this picture, they really stand out. I had to take out some dark circles under her eyes. I darkened her lips and retouched on her skin so she didn’t look so cold. Her eyes were already pretty sharp but I did sharpen them a little...

Camera Raw Edits from the Park

Feb 6, 2014 by

These images were edited using primarily Camera Raw editing. These images were taken at a park near my house. This was my first experience editing with camera raw.   Here is an Image before it was editing in Camera Raw: Before: Evening at the Park   Feb. 5th 2014, 5:36pm, Porter Park Rexburg Idaho, Nikon D3100, f/11, Shutter Speed 1/500sec Description Here is the image after it was edited in camera raw: After: Evening at the Park   Like I said, this was my first experience editing with camera raw so it was a little tricky to figure it out. The biggest thing I did for this picture was bringing out the color in the playground, in the original it looked pretty dull. I also brightened the snow. I really liked the sun in the...

Panoramic in the Park

Feb 6, 2014 by

This week I took a few photographs in the park, I combined 3 images into one using the photo merge option in photoshop to create panoramic images and cleaned up the images using a content aware option, cloning and patching. Here are two panoramic images I created:   By The Playground This was taken in a park by my house, I really liked having part of the yellow slide in the image and the blue water sprinkler those little sparks of color really made the image. The building is a carousel station open during the summer. Merging these images wasn’t that difficult, there was part of the image that I was unable to properly fill and blend so I cropped it. I brightened the colors and adjusted the levels bringing in more contrast. Here...

One Snowy Day (Flexible Edits)

Jan 30, 2014 by

These are pictures I took for Digital imaging, we are learning about flexible edits, creating adjustment layers and filtered layers. Here is some of my work:   The first edit I performed on this photo was added with a Black and White mask layer. I Added color back to the image on the fence and in the tree. Next, I added a warming filter, I masked out the tree in the back. After performing the masks and edits I added another layer and fixed the color balance, I took out the majority of the blue undertones. This image was taken in my backyard.     This picture is a picture of a house just down the street from my own house. The first edit performed on this picture was a hue and saturation adjustment,...

Flora and Fauna

Jan 30, 2014 by

This week in my Digital Imaging class we were assigned to explore Flora and Fauna- Plant and animal life. These were the pictures I was able to come up with: Fauna:    January 29th 2014, 4:34pm, this was taken just around the corner from my house with a Nikon D3100, f/5.6, Shutter speed: 1/250second This was shot on my street, there is a house with a bunch of cats, the people who own the cats have a really cute yard. Today I was walking by and there were a bunch of cats in a well, a few of them jumped out of the well, one of them was this orange cat. I thought the surroundings complimented the cat well. I took out a lot of blue undertones in photoshop.     Flora:   January...
