Bannack Best

Feb 20, 2014 by

Here are a few of my Favorite Images from the Shoot in Bannack Ghost Town:   Indian Princess:   Friday February 14th 2014, 2:28pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.5, Shutter Speed: 1/640sec Katie is so photogenic! When I look at this picture I think high fashion, one high fashioned Indian Princess. I love her pose, once again the colors and everything. I took out the blue from the snow but added it back into her headband and her eyes. I really like the foggy snow look for this image as well.   Cowgirl outside the Hotel: Friday February 14th 2014, 2:21pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.5, Shutter Speed 1/500sec I like the pose Julie Peterson is performing in this image. The background blur of the hotel is really nice, you can tell she is...

Cowboy and Indian Portraits

Feb 20, 2014 by

For my Digital Imaging class, on Valentines day we took of field trip. These are some portraits I took during the trip to Bannack Ghost town in Montana. Katie The Indian Princess:   Friday February 14th 2014, 2:27pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.8, Shutter Speed: 1/500sec This was probably my absolute favorite picture, the colors came out really nicely, Katie did a really good job modeling. The blurred snow adds an authentic feel to the image, I really like the way she is positioned with the bone over her shoulder and everything. Her eyes are really striking, the reds and blues seem to really come out in this image and I really like it. Cowboy: Friday February 14th 2014, 2:48pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/5.6, Shutter Speed: 1/200sec I really like the way he is...

Portrait Enhancements

Feb 12, 2014 by

This week we were assigned to take portraits, for a section of the assignment we were to perform photo enhancements, Since I chose to photograph my sisters the enhancements weren’t hard since children don’t have much blemish to their face and also they didn’t seem to show their teeth a lot. My sisters do carry dark circles under their eyes though when they are tired so that’s always something I have to work around with them when we take pictures. Cocoa Child: I really my sister Eden’s eyes in this picture, they really stand out. I had to take out some dark circles under her eyes. I darkened her lips and retouched on her skin so she didn’t look so cold. Her eyes were already pretty sharp but I did sharpen them a little...

Into the Garden

Oct 17, 2013 by

This project was designed to focus on basic photography and photoshop skill sets. We were assigned to take pictures with good composition, appropriate lighting, a sharp focus and strong focal point. The photoshop portion of this assignment was to desaturate a portion of our photograph and add a filter. My photograph was shot in garden on campus this last weekend when my sisters came to visit me for the weekend. The little girl in the picture is my baby sister. After my photo shoot with my sisters I reformatted my image in photoshop, cropped it to the appropriate size and resolution. After my image was appropriately sized, I reopened the image, created a base layer and then a duplicate layer. On my duplicate layer I preformed a de-saturation technique to the wood in the...

Cheese Louise Event Flyer

Oct 11, 2013 by

Description: I designed this flyer for my Visual Media class, This was a challenge for me because I have always had Adobe programs around me since my mother is a graphic designer and I pursued a life of design as well.  I was NOT allowed to use Adobe programs on this specific project, I quite honestly did not know how to use word to design anything, I never needed too. There were times where I really wanted to open up illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop but I was able to compose this project entirely from MicroSoft Word as I was assigned to do, even the logo which was a struggle but a push for me. The assignment was to create a flyer for a beneficiary and a benefactor using a high quality image that we...

1920s, Art, Design and Life

Aug 24, 2013 by

My Birthday was just a few weeks ago, to celebrate we went to Park City Utah to do some Window shopping and we hit the town just in time for the Park City Arts Festival! While I was still in the Interior Design Program I had a teacher that would always tell us that everything about us should scream designer, and looking back from the pictures on my birthday, everything about me does! I saw a cute birthday idea on Pinterest for a 30th birthday, the theme was, “Out of the Roaring 20’s” well, I’m not thirty but I have just stepped into my roaring 20’s! I had to dress the part! I made do with a dress I had bought a few days prior and some accessories. I had so much fun at...

Landmarking Logos

Two years ago today I created “Designer’s Voyage” The Voyage truly has been a blessing in my life. The goal for my voyage has not changed from the beginning, however like any voyage there were some unexpected turns and obstacles that crossed my path. I am still an aspiring designer but I am also working towards being an event coordinator for large design events. Through all the mysterious winds in life posting my work, my accomplishments and my life here has been a wonderful confidence booster! Seeing my work come together and being published where others actually admire and read my work is truly exciting for me! Seriously, I get so excited every time I beat my record of viewers here on The Voyage or increase my number of followers. I love hearing from...

Light up the World

Jun 3, 2013 by

As many of you may know, I am always taking pictures, pictures of people and pictures of design that I enjoy or find interesting. A few months ago I went out to Dinner for a friend’s Birthday when one of my roommates pointed out the light fixture, me, being me felt the need to snap a picture of the fixture. Ever since then I’ve been noticing light fixtures even more than before and feel the need to take a picture of every light fixture that I enjoy! This is the fixture that started it all: This isn’t a fabulous picture, overall the lighting was pretty poor in Texas Roadhouse, however this particular fixture was very fitting for a table setting. There was a Dark shot over the bulb that was designed to keep the...

The Camera I finally can call my own!...

May 16, 2013 by

I am so beyond excited that I bought my very first DSLR camera! I have not used an SLR camera since my Senior Year of High School (So about 3 years) and so I have a lot of learning and re-learning to do. I got a Nikon D3100 with two lenses for a screaming deal. Before all of you try to tell me that I should have gotten a Canon, I’ll just tell you I’ve had much more luck with my Nikon cameras than my Canons. I got the D3100 because I am still learning, as I progress in my learning and also earn more money I can buy a better camera. I just wanted to Showcase some of my first pictures I took with my brand new camera! Also a few that my...

Capturing Life through Images

Mar 23, 2013 by

I have always had a love for photography! I have never been camera-shy, even from a young age I was asking for people to take pictures of me. Since I was about 9 years old I  started to enjoy not only being in pictures but taking pictures as well. My mom trusted me with her camera because she enjoyed the perspective I was able to find. I took a photography class in High School, I learned more about how to work with my little point and shoot camera to mimic some of those effects that SLR cameras can capture. I am now working on getting a SLR camera so that I can capture some better quality images. I would like to be able to get one soon so I am able to take pictures...
