The Camera I finally can call my own!...

May 16, 2013 by

I am so beyond excited that I bought my very first DSLR camera! I have not used an SLR camera since my Senior Year of High School (So about 3 years) and so I have a lot of learning and re-learning to do. I got a Nikon D3100 with two lenses for a screaming deal. Before all of you try to tell me that I should have gotten a Canon, I’ll just tell you I’ve had much more luck with my Nikon cameras than my Canons. I got the D3100 because I am still learning, as I progress in my learning and also earn more money I can buy a better camera. I just wanted to Showcase some of my first pictures I took with my brand new camera! Also a few that my...

Home Show

Apr 17, 2013 by

While I was out with some friends doing some shopping we noticed that there were people walking around with signs on them advertising a Home Show. My friend and I got very excited about this event, seeing as we both love Interior Design and design of all sorts. We convinced our friend to take us the following day to the Home Show. The Event was on the Madison County Fairgrounds and cost $2 for addmission. All the businesses were looking at us pretty funny probably because we are pretty young college students and neither of us are close to owning a home. We enjoyed looking at flooring, landscaping, paint, clubhouses, etc. We even got super stylish bags ;), We were pretty excited about that. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed looking at...

Business Expo

Apr 17, 2013 by

I’m back at home for the summer, my semester ended about a week ago. I’m waiting to hear from a company concerning the job I would like. While I have the time I decided I should post about a project I have been working on all semester long! The Rexburg Business Expo was Tuesday April 11th of 2013. I was able to assist the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce in producing the Business Expo as well as four other students. I was able to participate in the planning process of the Business Expo through my Events Management class, this was a great opportunity because planning real and valuable events is what I would like to do with my future. As students we started this project in January, the beginning of the semester. We were able...

March Madness Trend Bracket

Mar 25, 2013 by

Elle Decor and House Beautiful have teamed up to create a fun bracket for designers. I am not big into basketball and many other designers have expressed how this is “My kind of March Madness”. The Trend Tournament can be found on both Elle Decor and House Beautiful’s Facebook pages. Today the Tournament begins. Today the competing trends are leopard print and lace. I voted for lace, follow the Trend Tournament on Facebook through Elle Decor and House Beautiful to cast your vote. This Trend Tournament is just for fun for those who enjoy design. Here is my bracket: How well do you think I will do? We will have to wait and see. -Marisa Faye...

Seeking Experience

Mar 23, 2013 by

Shelia Wener defined internship as; Experience, Deciding what you like, Course Correction, Networking and an opportunity to have a job after graduation with a higher paying salary. I have been thinking about internships since my Senior Year of High School. In a way my Internship plan has not changed that much. I was looking at areas outside of where I lived that would be convenient for me to pursue a career in Interior Design. I still am looking for internships where I can make reasonable living and transportation arrangements while pursuing my desire to become an Event Manager for Design Market shows, this will be a little trickier considering I don’t know of any living arrangements that would be reasonable where a market show takes place. I was involved in Drama in high School, I...

Is it Your Work?

Mar 23, 2013 by

Plagiarism is unoriginal, unethical and will never enhance your creative abilities. Even if you use plagiarism to get yourself a great job, I guarantee there will be a time where you will not be able to use someone elses work, you will be looked down upon when others notice the quality of “Your” work has gone down or your style differs from what you have previously presented. Shane Cole taught that Ethics is what is morally good and morally bad. The idea of plagiarism was brought to pass in 1716 when Facts, Ideas and names are being copied without permission. Queen Anne had a Law that a work belonged to the author for 14 years after they had produced their work. copyrighting is how we can prevent plagiarism. A copyright is any original work...

PRSSA

Mar 23, 2013 by

My Teacher, Ward Hicks encouraged me to Join PRSSA(Public Relation Skills and Activities). This is an organization designed for students who are interested in Public Relations (Which is my area of study, with my focus on Event Management). PR is designed to enhance writing and editing skills, expand our knowledge of how to resource, be able to be a part of media planning (another area of interest for me) learn the importance of evaluation, be able to strategically think, receive opportunity to program, produce special events etc. PRSSA helps students find a job or internship, offers awards and scholarship, provides travel opportunities creates affiliation with the PRSA (The non-student version of PRSSA) and offers local chapter activities. For more information you can go to prssa.org From Micheal Cannon I learned that PR is also...

The Office to Enhancing your Business...

Mar 23, 2013 by

Microsoft Office is a set of commonly used programs that are designed to help communicate with others. We use Microsoft Word to create documents that we can send to others. We use Powerpoint as a way to pitch an idea or create a learning presentation. We use Excel to display data and information. Microsoft Office is a universal program that the majority of todays world are familiar with and use on a regular basis. My teachers, even as I was at a young age, valued the teaching of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Word was the program we used to type up our pieces we had written. I had a teacher that started teaching us in 4th grade how to use Powerpoint, he showed us how to be creative with Powerpoint as well. Microsoft office produces...

The Way Life is Presented: Advertisement...

Mar 23, 2013 by

In advertising there are 5 “P’s” we should consider; Product, Price, Place, Promotion and People. It is important that we make our advertisements appropriate for our audience, the area in which we advertise, we use the appropriate medium and the correct purpose of the advertisement. Beth Hendricks taught that Advertising brings Prices down. Advertising brings people to buy things they don’t want or need. to quote ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’, “A store can open a lust for things you never knew you needed” such is the same with advertising. Hendricks presented this video for communication students, In Advertising the way you present is everything! Be creative, be appropriate and be convincing! Get the audience you want to see the appeal of what you are advertising! Stand out from the world. I am currently working...

Capturing Life through Images

Mar 23, 2013 by

I have always had a love for photography! I have never been camera-shy, even from a young age I was asking for people to take pictures of me. Since I was about 9 years old I  started to enjoy not only being in pictures but taking pictures as well. My mom trusted me with her camera because she enjoyed the perspective I was able to find. I took a photography class in High School, I learned more about how to work with my little point and shoot camera to mimic some of those effects that SLR cameras can capture. I am now working on getting a SLR camera so that I can capture some better quality images. I would like to be able to get one soon so I am able to take pictures...
