Senior Showcase Advertisements

Apr 14, 2014 by

Another Semester down! One more step closer to my dreams! I’ve kept very busy this last semester, I was working and taking 15 or 16 credits. I kept up to date on all of my school work, made time for friends and even had the opportunity to make a little money free-lancing. Zachary Lee, a student who was in the Events Management class at BYU-Idaho hired me to be the designer for the Senior Showcase at BYU-Idaho. I helped him design a poster and a flyer to promote the event. Kris Bennett, another BYU-Idaho student in the BYU-Idaho Events Management class informed me that these advertisements promoted an event that brought in over 800 people and increased the attendance by over 50% from last years Senior Showcase. Here is the Poster that was displayed...

Photo Adventures- Photo-book Final...

Apr 3, 2014 by

For my Final project in Digital Imaging we were assigned to create a photo-book with a collection of our work throughout the semester. I used mypublisher.com to send my book off to look like a real book. I designed the format of the book in In-Design using some Illustrator. I used a beveled edged frame around each of my pictures and a decorative font as the headings for my description pages. I took my best work from all my photos I have posted this semester. I gave information about how I took the pictures, where and the significance of each picture. I designed the cover in Illustrator and In-Design featuring a camera I designed in Illustrator. I liked the black and white, I felt that it complimented my work in a very classy way...

Tips on Photographing Children

Mar 27, 2014 by

One of my last assignments for my Digital imaging class was to make a tutorial. This was my very first attempt at making a video that I didn’t just press the record button on and call it good, I know nothing about video editing so it was a little frustrating for me. I chose to do my tutorial video on photographing children because I have experience with it and expect that I will have more experience with child photography in the future, I did some research but mostly I came up with the idea on my own. This is applicable to anyone who will ever take a picture of a child, which lets face it most of us will. Click here for the PDF document: TutorialPDF   Photos included in the video and the PDF...

Keep it Herbal

Mar 6, 2014 by

For my Art and Propaganda class I was supposed to make a piece of propaganda. I had no idea what to do then, while working on my photo book project, I saw this picture I took and thought of the phrase “Keep it Herbal” my friend and I are seriously considering making this a real business (This is not a real advertisement, please do not count on the library having this tea). We love tea and want to give it a positive image, not all teas are against the Word of Wisdom so we shouldn’t be shunned when we tell people that we love tea.  Students, how many of you would be interested if we started selling tea to university students? -Marisa Faye Reeves  ...

Ice Princess

Mar 5, 2014 by

After Edits: Ice Princess   January 2nd 2014, 3:14pm, Ice Castles in Midway Utah, Nikon D3100, f/8, Shutter Speed: 1/250sec I have posted this picture here before, but this image was printed to fit a 20×30″ frame. I love this photo of my little sister, I love the way the ice frames her face, how the blues compliment her eyes. Her face is positioned to be the focal point, although the background is pretty it is presented in a way that it compliments her and doesn’t distract from her. Before Edit: Ice Princess   This is the image before I performed edits in photoshop. I took away the dark shadows under her eyes,  smoothed out her skin so it wasn’t so cold looking. I sharpened her eyes. I added two layers, a hue...

Bannack Best

Feb 20, 2014 by

Here are a few of my Favorite Images from the Shoot in Bannack Ghost Town:   Indian Princess:   Friday February 14th 2014, 2:28pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.5, Shutter Speed: 1/640sec Katie is so photogenic! When I look at this picture I think high fashion, one high fashioned Indian Princess. I love her pose, once again the colors and everything. I took out the blue from the snow but added it back into her headband and her eyes. I really like the foggy snow look for this image as well.   Cowgirl outside the Hotel: Friday February 14th 2014, 2:21pm, Bannack Montana, Nikon D3100, f/4.5, Shutter Speed 1/500sec I like the pose Julie Peterson is performing in this image. The background blur of the hotel is really nice, you can tell she is...

High Dynamic Range (HDR) Shots

Feb 20, 2014 by

I just learned how to shoot an HDR shot- or shots. On my camera I do not have bracketing so I had to perform bracketing manually. For those of you reading this that don’t know what an HDR shot is, they are a collection of images that vary in composition (over exposed, underexposed) placed together to get the perfect composition. I used the free version of Photomatrix since I can’t afford the real version right now. Doctors Desk:   I was very pleased at how well this image came out. This was in an old doctor’s house. The wood has more definition , the reflection is much more defined than it was in any of the three images this one image was composed from. The colors are just amazing!          ...
