Thread and Machine- Reverse Shallow Depth

These two images are essentially the same picture with the subject reversed. This was taken in an old Doctors house in Bannack Montana. I thought the sewing machine looked pretty cool.

In this image the sewing machine is in focus and the closer you get to the front of the image is less in focus. You can see the details of the sewing machine really clearly here.

In this image instead of the sewing machine being in focus, only the thread is in focus. Everything that was in focus in the previous picture became out of focus for this image.
