Etsy and Senior Showcase

Mar 19, 2016 by

This week I had my Senior Showcase. All BYU-Idaho students are required to create a project and show it off at Senior Showcase before graduation. I am happy to say, the project was a success and that I felt confident presenting my senior project. My family and I have made these crazy doodle designs for as long as I can remember. My mom and I have talked about making our designs into fabric design, duvet covers, t-shirts and bags for a few years now. So far I have only been able to figure out T-Shirts and bags. I collected designs from my mom and sisters, fixed those designs up in Illustrator and Photoshop and made them look ready for print. I researched printing costs, but to print in a shop is really expensive...

Senior Showcase Advertisements

Apr 14, 2014 by

Another Semester down! One more step closer to my dreams! I’ve kept very busy this last semester, I was working and taking 15 or 16 credits. I kept up to date on all of my school work, made time for friends and even had the opportunity to make a little money free-lancing. Zachary Lee, a student who was in the Events Management class at BYU-Idaho hired me to be the designer for the Senior Showcase at BYU-Idaho. I helped him design a poster and a flyer to promote the event. Kris Bennett, another BYU-Idaho student in the BYU-Idaho Events Management class informed me that these advertisements promoted an event that brought in over 800 people and increased the attendance by over 50% from last years Senior Showcase. Here is the Poster that was displayed...

Keep it Herbal

Mar 6, 2014 by

For my Art and Propaganda class I was supposed to make a piece of propaganda. I had no idea what to do then, while working on my photo book project, I saw this picture I took and thought of the phrase “Keep it Herbal” my friend and I are seriously considering making this a real business (This is not a real advertisement, please do not count on the library having this tea). We love tea and want to give it a positive image, not all teas are against the Word of Wisdom so we shouldn’t be shunned when we tell people that we love tea. Ā Students, how many of you would be interested if we started selling tea to university students? -Marisa Faye Reeves  ...

A Brochure about ME!

Dec 7, 2013 by

For my Visual media class I was to design a brochure this is What I came up with: The Front View of My Brochure: This Brochure has 5 different sections, each section has a page that overlaps the previous page just enough so you can see the titles of each section. Here is what a section would look like:   Here is are screenshots of what each category will look like:   This Brochure was created to showcase me šŸ™‚ The Process of this was long, It was difficult for me to figure out how this would print out. I designed this primarily in Indesign, however I did some photo editing in Photoshop- of course. I gathered information, pictures and then designed the layout. I then placed my images and figured out where I...

Cheese Louise Event Flyer

Oct 11, 2013 by

Description: I designed this flyer for my Visual Media class, This was a challenge for me because I have always had Adobe programs around me since my mother is a graphic designer and I pursued a life of design as well. Ā I was NOT allowed to use Adobe programs on this specific project, I quite honestly did not know how to use word to design anything, I never needed too. There were times where I really wanted to open up illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop but I was able to compose this project entirely from MicroSoft Word as I was assigned to do, even the logo which was a struggle but a push for me. The assignment was to create a flyer for a beneficiary and a benefactor using a high quality image that we...

Graduate Leadership Flyer

Oct 3, 2013 by

Description: This is a flyer that I designed for my Visual Media class this week. I was given the information, picture, logo and was assigned to design the layout. The layout had to fit in with the P-A-R-C-F principles (Proximity Alignment Repetition Contrast and Flow) to create a visually appealing image to the target audience. Process: I started by sketching 4 possible layouts with a fine pen. I then opened up In-Design and began to play with variations of my sketches. I started to play with alignment and repetition. Once I was pretty much set on my layout I began to search for fonts that would be appropriate and visually appealing. I had trouble finding a title font that I felt pleased with for this particular design so I searched on dafont.com for a...

School Bound

Sep 5, 2013 by

I move back to school in one week! I can hardly contain my excitement! These past two years have had their challenges and some moments of absolute delight! I’ve had several life changing experiences, I never thought I would be one of those people to ever switch my major, or ever go through a period of time where I was utterly confused about what I was going to do with my life because I’ve always had a plan for myself. I have always been a goal setter, my goals are straight forward and very specific, sometimes they sound unreachable, but I assure you they are not. I have decided that New Years is just plain bad luck for me, I have not had a great New Years Eve since I was 16, It’s not...

1920s, Art, Design and Life

Aug 24, 2013 by

My Birthday was just a few weeks ago, to celebrate we went to Park City Utah to do some Window shopping and we hit the town just in time for the Park City Arts Festival! While I was still in the Interior Design Program I had a teacher that would always tell us that everything about us should scream designer, and looking back from the pictures on my birthday, everything about me does! I saw a cute birthday idea on Pinterest for a 30th birthday, the theme was, “Out of the Roaring 20’s” well, I’m not thirty but I have just stepped into my roaring 20’s! I had to dress the part! I made do with a dress I had bought a few days prior and some accessories. I had so much fun at...

Landmarking Logos

Aug 23, 2013 by

Two years ago today I created “Designer’s Voyage” The Voyage truly has been a blessing in my life. The goal for my voyage has not changed from the beginning, however like any voyage there were some unexpected turns and obstacles that crossed my path. I am still an aspiring designer but I am also working towards being an event coordinator for large design events. Through all the mysterious winds in life posting my work, my accomplishments and my life here has been a wonderful confidence booster! Seeing my work come together and being published where others actually admire and read my work is truly exciting for me! Seriously, I get so excited every time I beat my record of viewers here on The Voyage or increase my number of followers. I love hearing from...

Home Show

Apr 17, 2013 by

While I was out with some friends doing some shopping we noticed that there were people walking around with signs on them advertising a Home Show. My friend and I got very excited about this event, seeing as we both love Interior Design and design of all sorts. We convinced our friend to take us the following day to the Home Show. The Event was on the Madison County Fairgrounds and cost $2 for addmission. All the businesses were looking at us pretty funny probably because we are pretty young college students and neither of us are close to owning a home. We enjoyed looking at flooring, landscaping, paint, clubhouses, etc. We even got super stylish bags ;), We were pretty excited about that. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed looking at...

Business Expo

Apr 17, 2013 by

I’m back at home for the summer, my semester ended about a week ago. I’m waiting to hear from a company concerning the job I would like. While I have the time I decided I should post about a project I have been working on all semester long! The Rexburg Business Expo was Tuesday April 11th of 2013. I was able to assist the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce in producing the Business Expo as well as four other students. I was able to participate in the planning process of the Business Expo through my Events Management class, this was a great opportunity because planning real and valuableĀ events is what I would like to do with my future. As students we started this project in January, the beginning of the semester. We were able...

Designing for The Business Expo...

Feb 11, 2013 by

I am currently taking an Events Management class, I think this is what I want to do with my future so I figured I better take the class because I don’t like wasting any time when it comes to my future. I feel the need to test the waters now. I am throughly enjoying the class. My teacher assigned a group of us to coordinate with the Chamber of Commerce to plan and produce the Business Expo this coming April. (Finals week/ move out week it’s going to be a CRAZY week!) With my design experience I was entitled to the position of the group “Designer”. I’m excited to start more design projects soon. The Chamber of Commerce has been producing the Business Expo for quite a few years now and yet they do...
